Travel & Teach - Colombia

Overview

"It is the most beautiful country, quite unique physically too, like a latin Switzerland. The scenery is extraordinary, sweeping vistas and mountain ridges."
Chris Vellacott, Global English TESOL graduate

While not as popular as some South American destinations, Colombia has a steadily increasing EFL sector and people have a genuine desire to learn English. It is definitely on the up and after years of only being a destination for the more intrepid, it is now definitely on the TESOL map.

Regular teaching work is generally not advertised outside the country and so come with plenty of money to see you through and you should be able to pick up work on the doorstep. Start looking in the cities or consider a teaching placement first with an agency enabling you to get to know the country and make contacts for future paid work.

Tips for teaching English in Colombia:

* the Premier 120-hr TESOL for Latin America as a basic qualification
* the 30-hour Teaching English to Young Learners course as this will be useful
* the 30-hour Business TESOL for Colombia
